“When we change the patterns in our body, we change the patterns in our mind. When we change the patterns in our mind, we change our lives.” (-Kumu Abraham Kawai’i)
This work is based on Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi Massage and is imbued with the principles of Aloha. Anyone can learn the work, and receive the work, in the spirit of aloha (compassion and respect for all).
In 1986 a Kahuna named Abraham Kawai’i shared what he termed “Kahuna Bodywork” or “Temple Style Lomi” with the global mainstream, and now it is possible to study this incredibly beautiful and powerful form of bodywork at many places throughout the world. I acknowledge that this work has its roots in Hawaii, and am grateful to all the Hawaiian kahunas who practiced and still practice Lomi Lomi massage in Hawaii and around the world. I am grateful to Abraham Kawai’i for sharing this work with people who are not Hawaiian, because he believed that the whole world needed more ‘aloha’.
I am grateful to my teacher in South Africa, Anthea Hardwick, for sharing this work with so many people and teaching us about the meaning and power of Aloha.
Working with the rhythm of the ebb and flow of the ocean, and using intention, breath and flowing techniques, a practitioner will take you on a journey.
It is more than massage. It will release blockages in your body’s energy system, restore your vitality, re-calibrate your nervous system and take you on a journey to meet your soul.
Working with heart, aloha, intention and a focus on the breath, a session will take you to a place of deep relaxation, help you to release any thing that needs to be let go, and make space for whatever needs to come in to your body and life – more joy, peace, balance, wholeheartedness, connection, love, friendship, flow, wellbeing – more aloha.
“In South Africa, we called the massage style Kahuna Massage. It changed my life. Through learning to give and receive this healing form of bodywork, I have transformed my self and my life on so many levels. Old patterns of thinking have given way to new ways of being that bring me more joy and awareness, and have helped me to manifest more happiness and positive change in myself and those around me.” Read my story here.
Come home to your body. Come home to your soul.
I look forward to supporting you on your journey.
