You need to take extra special exquisite care of yourself right now

Dear Friends

In this time of change and economic strain, it is imperative to take extra special care of your body, your mind, and your spirit.  To move through life with ease and grace is definitely our right and our privilege. And it is possible, no matter what is going on in your life.  But few of us are able to do that, because our minds (ego’s) take over and invent all sorts of stories about who we are, what others are doing/ thinking/ being (taking us out of our own experience of life) and the biggest story of all… that we are not good enough and don’t deserve a life of ease and beauty and joy.
Do you know that you have a choice?

We can trundle through life just clinging on, hanging on the edge, “coping with stress”,  and having occasional bouts of Joy and enjoyment. That’s one way to “get through it”. But why would we want to do that? I know I would prefer to be living in Joy every moment of my life.  Every day. Even in the tough times, living with Joy is possible.  Joy is not about enjoyment… although that is part of it. Joy with a capital “J” is about feeling alive.. .that tingle of life force, that energy that makes us want to hug someone, smile, and get out of bed, looking forward to the day ahead, no matter what. It’s about feeling connected to something bigger than ourselves…

I spent about 30 years of my life waking up in the morning not wanting to get up, dragging myself out of bed and wishing  that I didn’t have to face the day.  Not that the days were bad, but my energy was sapped and my spirit was depleted, and it didn’t know what Joy was, although it yearned for it.

Over the past few years,  my spirit has slowly woken up. It has discovered what JOY is.  It’s a sensation in the physical body that is like a cool gentle breeze on a very hot day.  The mind-body dance technique of Nia started this experience for me seven years ago, and then last year, Kahuna bodywork woke me up fully, and literally squeezed all the depression out of my cells so that I was able to breathe again, healed my feet and hips to move forward in my life, and opened up my heart to feeling alive with JOY.  Every moment in every day became filled with a sense of aliveness. A tingling sensation in my cells.  A sense of WOW!  This is Life as it can be… lived to it’s fullest, no matter what else is going on around me.  It is a greater version of stopping to smell the roses. It is sensing the fragrant delight in every moment and each experience.

During stressful times in my life now, I remember that feeling, and know what is possible, and so I keep heading toward it.  I am very sure to take exquisite care of myself in tough times, so that I can get through them with JOY , instead of fear.  I know from experience that all things are possible … and that I can change from the inside out in a moment, because “now is the moment of power”.  If I stay present in my life, living from moment to moment, then I can change my experience of it in an instant, using all the tools and skills I give to my clients.  Using kinesiology, I know how to body test myself for answers to what is draining my energy, what emotion I am really experiencing, and find the best approach to clearing it, so that I can keep moving forward.    As a Kahuna massage therapist, I make sure that I receive a lot of massages, so that I can rest deeply, clear any blockages, and  fill up to give out again.

There are many ways to practice and learn how to be present in your life. Meditation, yoga, dancing, and even extreme sports keeps you focused in the present moment.  Kahuna massage is another way.  During a massage, you will drop into a deep state of relaxation, into a state of blissful being, where you can only be in the present moment.  It is an opportunity to connect your mind, your body and your spirit in one moment.

And if you think you cannot afford a kahuna massage…. think again.  You cannot afford NOT to have kahuna massage. Your body, mind and spirit need it. And remember there is the option of the floor treatment if you do not fancy a full body oil massage.  (Not every body likes oil, but all bodies need nurturing touch, and the floor treatment – done fully clothed –  is just as healing and relaxing.)

Kahuna deep-healing bodywork, from the ancient Hawaiian tradition, is done with the intention of Aloha. Aloha means many things..  including love and acknowledging the other person and accepting them for who they are.  The aspects of beauty and nature and the elements are brought into the massage with dynamic music, flowers, shells and candles, to create a beautiful space and to overwhelm the senses so that you can drop into a deep, healing state of relaxation. It is truly a blissful experience.

Kahuna is my calling, and my vocation, and I believe in the power and beauty of this work to support you in finding the JOY in your life.

If you think you cannot afford the time, well, …. that is a choice you make. Do you believe you don’t deserve to take care of yourself?  Do you put everything and everyone else before your own needs?  If you do, then maybe its time to look at that. How is it working for you? Does it make life more joyful for you and those around you?  Only you will know the answers. (And if you need help with that, then kinesiology can help you.)

When you take care of yourself, and fill up your tank, you are better able to take care of those you love.
with love and aloha,
Brenda
